YAM MASH

One of the advantages of having a Nigerian flatmate, are the culinary adventures I have experienced ever since we moved in.
Tonight for example, she prepared Amala, a dish which reminded me a bit of mashed potatoes except for it's not mashed potatoes but mashed yam.
You can buy so-called Yam Flour in African supermarkets in the UK, add water, stir for a bit and enjoy a delicious and filling meal.

The biggest fun part for me is that you actually eat the mash with your hands, a child's dream for everyone who had a rather traditional upbringing.
Although it may not look very appetizing, it is a wonderfully comforting, delicious and fun dish to try, especially for people who love playing with their food.
