"So where are you from?" is probably the question I have encountered the most in the past two weeks.
The answer, however, is not that easy for me as I grew up in 5 different countries, moving to a different place every four to five years.
Even though I usually answer with "I am originally from Germany" , let me explain what I would actually love to say.
I like comparing "home" to a pizza, where every slice stands for a place I have lived at.
The entire pizza is made of the same dough and is responsible for keeping the different slices together.
The dough in my case, symbolizes family and friends that have accompanied me through my entire life.
The toppings, however, vary from slice slice giving each piece a very own flavor.
Some might taste a little bit spicy, others rather sweet making the decision of choosing a favorite one impossible.
Even though some parts are already finished, they still leave a certain taste in my mouth, which gets less with the time but never fully leaves.
After two weeks in England I am glad to say that I feel like my pizza is adding up to a sixth piece.
The newest slice might still be in the oven but it already smells good!
