NIGERIAN-GERMAN FLATMATE MIX

As I am a rather social person, I decided to apply for an accommodation, in which you share a flat with two to three mates. Not knowing with whom you'll be sharing kitchen and bathroom, however, can be incredibly nerve recking especially the night before moving in.
The people around me weren't helpful either since most of them felt like it was the right time to share their experiences with insane flatmates a week before I left.
An essential part of the story was a "but don't worry, I'm sure you will be a lot luckier", which made everything worse especially in combination with their fake compassionate facial expression.
Anyway, when I first opened the door to my flat I must have looked like a SWAT officer, who carefully edges his way through the house trying to find traces of the person of interest.
I am very glad to announce though, that all the worries were completely unnecessary.
My flatmate "Abi" is absolutely amazing and I am genuinely happy that I chose to stay in a two-bedroom apartment.
I love how the two of us have the most random discussions while nibbling german breakfast, casually stay in our "PJS" all day and motivate each other in going to the gym, ending up opening a bottle of white wine anyway.
I love how we can simply crack up over the fact that I moved in with a six-pack of beer and wholewheat bread whereas she equipped herself with a whole package of juice boxes and a basket of chicken.
While I am typing the last few words for today, the smell of "Jollof rice" is slowly spreading through our flat.
Well, I guess that my friends were right after all and I am a lot luckier indeed!
