WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REAL #SOCHIPROBLEMS?

A new trend has flooded social media websites where people post photos of messed up hotel rooms, half done roadworks or odd bathroom constructions followed by a hashtag sochiproblems.

As malicious joy is part of our human nature I cannot deny that I had a good laugh at some of the pictures when first seen a few days ago.
In the meantime, however, they begin to annoy me not only because they are inescapable but also because I dislike the people's desperate craving for sensation.

If you started looking for weird road constructions or non functioning light bulbs in your town I'm pretty sure you'd find plenty of them as well. To be honest I would not even have to leave my apartment to find at least five dodgy items that would fit under the category #problems and so far I haven't feel the urge to share them on social media.

In addition to that I feel like the attention has been shifted from criticizing what is actually wrong in the host country to gloating over some random photos of toilets.
I do believe that the real #sochiproblems are much more important than unfinished hotel suites or wires sticking out of the ceiling.
